Thank you very much for your interest in my Lucis InterplayArt™.

A little about me.

Art and technology are my two favorite things. After high school I studied electrical engineering instead of going to art school. Then I worked for a while as an electrical engineer, earned my MBA, worked a few more years in high tech marketing and consulting, and finally in the fall of 1996 I founded a software company called Image Content Technology LLC (ICT). Our software is called Lucis®. Lucis is the trade name for a patented image-processing algorithm (Differential Hysteresis Processing) that easily and accurately reveals incredible image content. Lucis has numerous artistic, photographic, scientific, and medical imaging applications.

After several years of pursuing scientific and medical imaging applications for Lucis, we began to pursue artistic applications. We developed several artistic special effects and created an Adobe® Photoshop® plug-in called LucisArt. By the summer of 2001 ICT became a virtual company with one employee- me. I oversee any aspects of the business that I do not do myself. I enjoy working with digital art instructors and artists to promote Lucis products to digital photography and artistic communities.

In 2003 ICT finalized Lucis Pro 5.0, which had the ability to process each Red Green Blue channel of an image separately. With this software I developed my InterplayArt™ techniques. In early 2004 after creating 26 commercial pieces (and another 50 not-so-commercial experiments) I created InterplayArt and posted the first version of this web site.

I enjoy image processing more than I like taking pictures. I can look into an image and just "see" its potential. I know Lucis processing so well that I practically channel the settings to use for any given image. The most important aspects of creating Lucis InterplayArt are to choose 1) two images to mix that will Lucis-interplay well together, 2) how the two images will overlap, 3) whether or not to process one or both of the images with Lucis before combining them, 4) whether or not to make one or both of the images grayscale, 5) whether or not remove or make fainter some of the aspects of the two images to improve how they Lucis-interplay, and 5) perform the final Lucis processing, once or multiple times. To date I have primarily used stock photography to create my Lucis InterplayArt but I am shooting more. I especially enjoy completing custom projects for customers.

I have described how to create Lucis InterplayArt in more detail on the web site www.lucisinterplayart.com. Please remember that if you buy the Lucis software and try to create Lucis InterplayArt that it takes time and experimentation to learn how to do it. The Lucis InterplayArt technique is extremely image dependent so it is difficult to describe and teach.

My creative interest right now is to create custom InterplayArt portraits. In these portraits I combine a person with something that matters to them to create an energetic and inspirational piece. I have only two posted now, which you can view by clicking here.

Many blessings,

Barbara
