"Valeska's Lion"

As a totem the lion represents the assertion of feminine power (1). Valeska wanted her image lucis-interplayed with a lion. I started with an image I took of Valeska outside on her deck. She was wearing a bright turquoise scarf. I tried about 3 lion images showing smaller lions and landscape before settling on this lion image- just the full face of a lion. Because the lion image was going across Valeska's face I decided to make the lion image grayscale. This would keep some of the skin tones and keep the bright color of the scarf. I then processed the grayscale lion image with Lucis to make the detail much more striking and more like a pattern. Then I mixed Valeska's image with the Lucis-enhanced grayscale lion image. Finally I processed the mixed image with Lucis.
